Stubborn Fat and Cellulite -The Mesotherapy Solution

Mesotherapy, the non-surgical solution to resolve a frustrating and persistent body image problem: how to reduce stubborn cellulite and lose body fat. Mesotherapy targets those areas that are resistant to exercise and weight loss by breaking apart cellulite, breaking down fat and flattening out the surface of the skin. A non-surgical treatment, mesotherapy eliminates areas of cellulite and fat on the hips, thighs, and abdomen for a smoother body shape and more youthful appearance. Mesotherapy consists of the injection of small amounts of medication into the mesoderm, the middle layer of skin, without surgery. Excellent results usually are obtained within six to ten weeks. There is no recuperation time necessary.

What is cellulite and why do we have it?

Cellulite is composed of fat and connective tissue that combine to give a lumpy or "orange peel" appearance to the skin. It typically occurs on the buttocks and back of the thighs, but appears elsewhere as well. Cellulite occurs more frequently in women than in men because of the way subcutaneous fat is compartmentalized, as shown in the illustration below. This difference is due to hormonal influences that predispose women to develop cellulite.

Male Fat Cells

Male Fat Cells
A man's fat cells, represented by the circles, are contained by a crisscrossing series of collagen.

Female Fat Cells

Female Fat Cells
A woman's fat cells are held in place below the skin by cube-like structures contained by collagen bands.

When a man gains weight, his fat cells enlarge. When this happens, the fat cell chambers stretch. Because of the arrangement of the chambers, they do so evenly.

When a woman gains weight the fat cells enlarge. Because of the arrangement of the fat cell chambers, they push into the skin and cause irregularity. This leads to the "orange peel" effect of cellulite.

Why diet and exercise don't help

Cellulite can affect anyone, regardless of body size or structure, because it is primarily a problem of the skin and is not necessarily weight related. Even slim individuals may develop cellulite. Diet and exercise make little or no headway against cellulite for two reasons: cellulite formation depends on 1) the containment pattern of the fat cells and 2) the lack of blood supply to those cells. Although some treatments may reduce the appearance of cellulite, they offer only temporary fixes that do not actually treat the problem. Mesotherapy is one of the most effective ways of actually eliminating cellulite.

How does Mesotherapy work?

In mesotherapy, injections made under the skin break up the fibrotic, hardened connective bands of tissue that create the skin's dimpled appearance (cellulite). These injections also break up and dissolve excess fat. The final result is a smoother, dimple-free skin surface. The treatments are given once a week, and early changes may be seen within four sessions. Usually, eight to ten treatments are needed for permanent results. After six treatments, you'll notice an improvement not only in your skin's appearance, but also in the shape of your body. With mesotherapy, you can get the beautiful results you want with no surgery, no anesthesia, no pain, no scarring–and no more unattractive cellulite and fat.
